Lego Robotics

Saturday Lego Robotics Club

LEGO Robotics is a unique learning experience that capitalizes on our children’s fascination in robots and other high-tech interests. By building robots with Lego and programming functions for the robot, children engage in science, technology and engineering concepts while thoroughly enjoying themselves.

Children create and build the smartest, strongest LEGO Robots using LEGO blocks, interactive motors, sound sensors, ultrasonic visual sensors, touch sensors and light sensors. Children practice mechanical design, construction, programming and build teamwork skills. The robots’ motors are plugged into a computer and children configure behaviours using the programming tool. With software, children plan, test and modify sequences of instructions for a variety of life-like robotic behaviours. Children learn to collect and analyze data from sensors, using data logging functionalities embedded in the software.

Sessions are 4 consecutive Saturdays for 2 hours. You may register your child for one or more sessions and with each session, children build on the skills and concepts previously learned to create more complex, dynamic robots and programs.

Group sizes range from 10 to 12 children. Previous experience is not necessary! Our highly qualified “Lego Man” leads each class and each child works on a robot at his or her level. Classes take place at Alderwood Toronto Private School, 1982 Islington Avenue, on the south-west corner of Islington and Dixon.

Session Dates:

  • Session 1: September 22, 29, October 6, 13
  • Session 2: October 20, 27, November 3, 10
  • Session 3: November 17, 24, December 1, 8
  • Session 4: January 5, 12, 19, 26
  • Session 5: February 2, 9, 16, 23
  • Session 6: March 2, 9, 16, 23
  • Session 7: March 30, April 6, April 13, 20
  • Session 8: April 27, May 4, 11, 18
  • Session 9: May 25, June 1, 8, 15

Session Times:

  • 9:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • 12:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
  • 2:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Session Fees:

  • Single session: $258+HST
  • Register for two or more sessions at the same time and pay $175 each + HST
  • Sibling discount: deduct $20

To Register:

  1. Print and complete the Saturday Lego Robotics Club Registration form
  2. Email the registration forms to lego@alderwoodtoronto.ca and complete an interact email transfer of fees
    ORMail the completed Registration form and a cheque for fees to Alderwood Toronto Private School, 1982 Islington Avenue, ON M9P-3N5. Cheques should be made payable to Alderwood Toronto Private School.
